This classic video from Candid Camera illustrates the power of social conformity in an elevator. In this video, people (naive participants) copy the awkward wall-facing behavior of other people in the elevator (confederates of the TV show). Of course, these videos are just anecdotal evidence, so we should be a bit skeptical about how strong this effect really is. (How many people did *not* conform?) So here's an opportunity for replication: The next time that you enter an elevator with a group o
