Minnesota has joined a wave of states suing TikTok, claiming the app uses addictive algorithms that harm young people's mental health.

Attorney General Keith Ellison announces his office's lawsuit against social media app TikTok in his office at the Minnesota State Capitol on August 19.

Ellison is not seeking to shut down the app, but for TikTok to “clean up their act,” he said, citing violations of Minnesota’s laws and a need to protect children.
