Protesters returned Friday to the rainbow crosswalk outside Pulse after it was painted over by the Florida Department of Transportation earlier this week.

Protesters repainted the Pulse Memorial crosswalk on Orange Avenue, just days after state-directed crews removed the rainbow stripes that honor the 49 lives lost during the 2016 massacre. Overnight Friday, FDOT crews could also be seen painting over another crosswalk on South Orange Avenue and Kaley Street.

A rainbow crosswalk that was part of the Pulse Memorial site in Florida was removed overnight, according to NBC affiliate WESH. The news station reported that the crosswalk located on the south side of the Pulse Nightclub at West Esther was originally painted in 2017.
