Polk underwent offseason surgery on his right shoulder, which he initially injured in Week 17 while diving for a pass. He returned in time to play the team’s first preseason game but re-injured the shoulder on a jet sweep.

With Polk reportedly sidelined, and Stefon Diggs still recovering from an ACL injury, the Patriots' receiver depth is in question just weeks before the start of the regular season. The team could look to add a veteran pass catcher in a trade, or once cuts are made, to cover for Polk's reported injury.
