OpenAI on Friday announced plans to set up its first office in India, located in New Delhi. They will set it up later this year. The company is rapidly expanding its AI tools in India. The country is now ChatGPT's second-largest and fastest-growing market after the US.
As per a Microsoft study, India is the fastest-growing AI adopter, with 65% of people using AI tools, double the global average and a 30% adoption rate among businesses.
OpenAI recently launched ChatGPT Go, a new subscription tier for its service in India for roughly $5/month. However, the new tier has been received with mixed reactions.
Users in India are facing issues while accessing ChatGPT and related OpenAI services. According to outage tracker Downdetector, reports of disruptions have surged since the morning of August 20, 2025.
