Cora made good on that final promise on Monday night, as Lowe came in to pinch-hit in the ninth inning against Baltimore Orioles closer Yennier Cano. He drew a seven-pitch walk and scored on a Jarren Duran double, but Boston still lost 6-3.

First baseman Nathaniel Lowe signed with the Boston Red Sox, the club announced Monday, after it finalized a deal for a prorated portion of the major league minimum, and the veteran appeared as a pinch hitter during a 6-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
