Direct visitor spending in Orlando grew an impressive 5.4%, generating an economic impact equivalent to hosting the NFL Super Bowl nearly twice a week for an entire year.'

Nearly 1,000 pages of itemized expenses and legal filings circulating among Orange County staff members are drawing concerns because of what they appear to reveal: how Visit Orlando is spending more than $100 million dollars in Tourism Development Tax (TDT) revenue it receives every year.

State officials have officially unveiled the location and schedule for the upcoming passport office opening in Orlando. On Friday, Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost announced that the new location will be just north of Orlando International Airport at 5520 Gatlin Ave., Orlando, FL 32812.

The state’s auditing team arrived in the city early Monday morning for a two-day review of finances, salaries and initiatives.

Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Orlando, announced Thursday that the State Department signed a lease to open the new office at 5520 Gatlin Road, just north of the Orlando International Airport. When it opens, it will be Florida’s second State Department passport center. The closest passport centers to Orlando are in Miami and Atlanta.
