Lyle and Erik Menendez murdered their parents, José and Kitty Menendez, on the evening of Aug. 20, 1989, in their Beverly Hills home. Each armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, Lyle, then 21, and Erik, then 18, shot their dad and mom over a dozen times. They fired at José at point-blank range and kept shooting Kitty as she was trying to flee.

The brothers had their hopes of a quick release dashed late last week. Their lawyers, and Gov. Gavin Newsom, could speed up the process — or they could even cut their wait time in half.

What will happen now to Erik and Lyle Menendez after police commissioners revealed the reason they were denied parole during their hearings last week.
