Every year, more than 80,000 storage auctions are held across the U.S., whether at a storage facility or online through an auction site.

Gary Huffman, owner of Chaffee Auction, goes to about three storage unit auctions a month, including some in St. Louis. For 11 years, he's been sorting through the remains inside unpaid storage units.
