Forecasters warned the storm, now a post-tropical cyclone, could continue to cause dangerous conditions on East Coast beaches for a few days.

Strong winds and waves from Hurricane Erin have battered Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard as dangerous rip currents continue to threaten from the Carolinas to New England.

While Hurricane Erin stayed offshore, her impact was still felt up and down the coast. In Atlantic City, noticeable beach erosion carved deep slopes into what was once a flat shoreline. A high surf advisory and dangerous rip currents remain in effect along the Jersey Shore heading into the weekend.
