Hurricane Melissa is expected to produce catastrophic floods, life-threatening storm surge and heavy infrastructure damage in Jamaica.

The scale of devastation across Jamaica and Cuba is emerging after Melissa - one of the most powerful Altantic hurricanes to make landfall - barrelled through.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) projected that 1.5mn people could be affected in Jamaica alone, more than half the country’s 2.8mn population.
