Maine Open Lighthouse Day draws thousands to historic sites
Saturday is Maine Open Lighthouse Day. The event brings in over 15 thousand people each year to visit lighthouses. The public is allowed to climb, go inside, and learn more about historic lighthouses all over Maine. The popular event is sponsored by the U.S. Coastguard, the Maine Office of Tourism and the American Lighthouse Foundation.

Maine Open Lighthouse Day set for Saturday, Sept. 14
Saturday, September 14th marks another Maine Open Lighthouse Day, which is sponsored by the United States Coast Guard, the Maine Office of Tourism, and the American Lighthouse Foundation. The event attracts between 15,000 to 18,000 visitors to Maine every year, according to the American Lighthouse Foundation.
