Legislators in Maryland introduced a bill Tuesday that proposed Congressional redistricting. The bill would add Maryland to the number of states that have undergone mid-decade congressional redistricting ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Maryland’s House of Delegates could vote this week on a bill that would add a ballot question this fall asking voters if new congressional district maps should be used in 2028 and 2030.
With only 6 opposing votes — all from Maryland Republican members — and two amendments, the Maryland House Rules and Executive Nominations Committee voted to pass House Bill 488, pushing the new redistricting map forward to the House floor.
