James Webb Telescope finds hidden moon orbiting Uranus
NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has uncovered a small moon quietly circling Uranus, a world already known for its unusual tilt, faint rings, and puzzling family of satellites. The discovery, announced by researchers at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI),
The newfound satellite, only about six miles wide, becomes Uranus’ 29th known moon and orbits near the planet’s inner rings.
Like Uranus's other 28 moons, the newfound object spotted by JWST will be named after a William Shakespeare or Alexander Pope character.
