New Missouri AG appointee says she plans to stay long-term after past three picks left office early
Missouri’s new attorney general says she is in it for the long run after the position has been a revolving door for years.
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe introduces nominee Catherine Hanaway, who will become attorney general in September. The two spoke on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, in Jefferson City. Video provided by the governor's office;
Former U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway has been appointed as Missouri's next attorney general. She takes over from Andrew Bailey, who is leaving for a position with the FBI.
“Our goal, if we move forward and there’s no decision to move forward … is to make sure Missouri’s values are reflected in Washington, D.C.,” Kehoe said at a press conference Tuesday announcing Catherine Hanaway as the next Missouri attorney general.
Bailey has a track record of backing the president, so we expect him to continue that. We hope new AG Catherine Hanaway will work for Missouri. | Opinion
