Is there anything we need to know about wild animals in the area? I'm especially concerned about bears. We would like to hike there with our young grandkids. Thanks

I only saw small animals during my visit but, it's always a good idea to carry bear spray and be aware just in case.
The menting shoe shoeing in their website but I think you need to call them to know if you can rent the shoes. I don't know that answer. Sorry. Jim Walker
